The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a comprehensive code of conduct in preparation for the upcoming Senate elections, aimed at ensuring transparency, integrity, and fairness in the electoral process.
The code of conduct imposes strict guidelines on political parties and candidates participating in the elections.
One of the key provisions prohibits parties and candidates from making statements against the ideology of Pakistan and its integrity. Additionally, any statement intended to denigrate the armed forces, parliament, or the judiciary is strictly forbidden.
Political parties and candidates are also urged to refrain from making the Election Commission of Pakistan controversial in any manner, while they are also prohibited from engaging in corrupt or illegal activities. Furthermore, the support of public office holders to influence the outcome of the elections is strictly prohibited.

Government employees are reminded to maintain impartiality and refrain from supporting or opposing any candidate during the electoral process. Moreover, the president and provincial governors are barred from participating in election campaigns for the Senate to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
Voters are also subject to certain restrictions, with the prohibition of mobile phones inside polling stations to prevent any potential interference or disruption.

In terms of financial regulations, the code of conduct imposes a limit of Rs1.5 million on election expenditure for each candidate. Successful candidates are required to submit their election expenses to the returning officer within five days, and all candidates must open bank accounts for election expenses before submitting any documents.
As the country gears up for the Senate elections, stakeholders are urged to adhere to the code of conduct to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and safeguard the democratic rights of the citizens.
