Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the new net metering policy.
According to details surfaced on Monday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has sought opinions from stakeholders regarding amendments to the net metering regulations. The authority issued a formal advertisement inviting feedback within 30 days.
According to Nepra, the amended regulations shall remain in force for 30 days until feedback is received. Under the earlier decision, the rate and contract of existing consumers shall not change.
Existing consumers shall continue to avail the facility of net metering instead of net billing. Their seven-year agreement and buy-back rate shall also remain intact.
After receiving stakeholders’ opinions, the authority shall announce a hearing or review its decision.
