Unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at the house of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Dr Amjad Ali in the Shamozai area of Swat on Wednesday, police confirmed.
According to officials, the grenade exploded outside Dr Amjad Ali’s house, causing partial damage to the building. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the attack.
Following the incident, Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Umar reached the scene to review the situation. Police cordoned off the area, collected evidence from the site, and launched an investigation to trace those responsible.
Minister calls attack attempt to silence him
Reacting to the incident, Dr Amjad Ali claimed the attack was a deliberate attempt to suppress his voice.
“This is an effort to intimidate me, but I will not back down from speaking the truth under any circumstances,” he stated.
Police officials said forensic evidence has been secured and intelligence-based efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the attackers. Authorities assured that those involved in the attack would be brought to justice.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security in the area has been tightened as a precautionary measure.
