The Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) rejected the margin offered by the government, with Abdul Sami Khan saying that if the dealer margin is not raised to eight per cent, the pumps will be shut.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Chairman Abdul Sami Khan said that they had asked the government for an eight per cent margin, and that it is not possible to operate without it.
He said the dealers are giving the government a 10-day ultimatum, after which the dealers will convene a meeting of their core committee and announce a final decision.
Abdul Sami Khan said the dealers’ present margin stands at 3.12 per cent per litre, and that they require a written assurance for an increase to eight per cent.
He added that the government may, if it chooses, raise the margin to eight per cent in instalments.
