Russia has welcomed the recent efforts by Pakistan and India to de-escalate tensions, terming the move a positive development for regional peace and stability.
In an official statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow expressed strong support for the agreement reached between the two South Asian neighbours to reduce hostilities and promote dialogue. The ministry described the agreement as “an important step forward” and voiced optimism that the measures taken to normalize relations would be durable and long-term.
“We welcome the easing of tensions between Pakistan and India and regard the recent agreement as a constructive step toward regional stability,” the statement read.
Highlighting its long-standing support for peace efforts in South Asia, the Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated Moscow’s backing for the resumption of direct talks between Islamabad and New Delhi. The ministry emphasised that meaningful dialogue remains essential for resolving outstanding disputes and preventing future confrontations.
