Hinglaj Mata Mandir (Nani Temple) in the mountain range of Balochistan is an example of interfaith tolerance in Pakistan.
Hinglaj Mata Mandir also known as Nani Mandir is a sacred place for the Hindu community across the world. Hinglaj Mata Mandir is located on the banks of the Hingul River in Hinglaj, Lasbela District, Balochistan, in the Hingul National Park in the Makran Region of Balochistan, which is 250 kilometres from the largest city of Pakistan, Karachi.
The annual celebrations at Hinglaj Mata Temple start in April every year and continue from 17th April to 28th April. These events are attended by various members of the Hindu community from all over the world, according to a conservative estimate, 250,000 people visit Mata's temple every year.
The third day is considered the most sacred in the Yatra celebrations. During the Yatra, the Hindu community builds small houses using mud and small stones and prays for improvement in their financial and marital life.
The original temple of Hinglaj Mata is located in a cave on top of the mountain where Hindu pilgrims first bathe in the Hingul River to wash themselves of sins and then visit the temple.
The local people around the temple of Hinglaj Mata consider it their duty to provide hospitality to the visiting guests and take an active part in the hospitality as per the tribal traditions.
The pilgrimage of Hinglaj Mata is a great example of Hindu-Muslim unity and the participation of pilgrims in large numbers is a message of peace to those spreading false rumours about the peace of Balochistan. This is the reason for the efforts of the peace and security institutions in Balochistan.
