Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat evaded arrest on Friday in Chakdara.
Earlier it was reported that Marwat was arrested in Chakdara. Marwat was heading from Bajaur to Chakdara to attend tomorrow's workers' convention when he was 'kidnapped' from Chakdara.
PTI had called for the immediate and unconditional release of its leader.
The party's official handle on X said that such blatant pressure tactics will not and cannot succeed, while terming the 'abduction' of its leader as 'pre-poll rigging attempt'.
The party also urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa to investigate the 'kidnapping and unlawful arrest' as a matter of urgency.
Later, a party statement announced that Sher Afzal Marwat was 'rescued' from police custody through the intervention of the public and lawyers at the scene.
