Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has rejected claims made by Washington that Iran will use its unfrozen assets to purchase agricultural goods from the United States.

In a post on X, he stated that US assertions regarding the use of Iranian funds for American farm imports were incorrect. Ghalibaf added in a pointed remark that Iran was “harvesting what you planted”, referring to decades of mistrust, which he termed as organic, abundant and homegrown, while alleging that the United States exports “GMO soybeans, broken promises and empty rhetoric”.

Separately, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei urged the United States to avoid unilateral interpretation of memoranda of understanding.
