Commerce Minister Jam Kamal on Friday stressed the need for the country to align with global trends in artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and automation in order to steer the economy towards prosperity.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the federal minister underscored the importance of engineering-based industrial transformation and stronger linkages between academia and industry. He said investment in modern engineering and technical skills could enhance Pakistan’s global competitiveness.
Jam Kamal warned that delay in reforms could prove costly for the national economy. He termed it essential to harness the country’s mineral resources, including copper and rare earth elements, through modern technology.
He urged students to acquire expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics and the digital economy. The minister said the government remained committed to promoting start-ups, strengthening the innovation ecosystem and fostering cooperation between industry and academia.
