A decision has been taken to accelerate reforms and accountability within the Punjab police.
A record of complaints against the police and the punishments imposed over the last two years has been compiled and sent to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to the report, police employees from constable to DSP were punished 219,460 times during the last two years.
In 2024, 111,821 officers and officials were punished after being found guilty in various complaints, while in 2025, 107,639 were punished.
During the two-year period, the highest number of punishments, 147,384, were imposed on constable-rank personnel, while DSP-rank officers received the fewest punishments.
The Punjab chief minister has directed that the accountability process be further accelerated.
