The sales of petroleum products recorded a three per cent year-on-year increase during the first seven months of the current financial year.
According to industry data, 9.67 million tonnes of the petroleum products were sold during the first seven months of the financial year, compared with 9.41 million tonnes in the same period last year, marking a three per cent rise. In January alone, sales stood at 1.52 million tonnes, up 10 per cent from 1.38 million tonnes recorded in January last year.
On a year-on-year basis, petroleum product sales in January rose by 12 per cent compared with December. Sales in December stood at 1.35 million tonnes nationwide.
The data showed that during the first seven months of the financial year, sales included 4.50 million tonnes of petrol, 4.24 million tonnes of high-speed diesel and 0.26 million tonnes of furnace oil.
In the corresponding period of the previous financial year, petrol sales totalled 4.37 million tonnes, high-speed diesel 4.06 million tonnes and furnace oil 0.41 million tonnes. On an annual basis, petrol and diesel sales rose by three per cent and four per cent respectively, while furnace oil sales declined by 36 per cent.
According to the figures, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded petroleum product sales of 4.07 million tonnes during the first seven months of the financial year, five per cent lower than 4.28 million tonnes in the same period last year. Attock Petroleum Limited recorded sales of 0.80 million tonnes, while Hascol Petroleum Ltd’s sales stood at 0.30 million tonnes.
