The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a public holiday across the country on February 5 in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to the SBP spokesperson, the central bank, the stock exchange, banks and financial institutions will remain closed on Kashmir Day. The holiday will apply to the SBP's head office as well as all subsidiary offices nationwide.
It was clarified that the ATM services will remain operational as usual during the holiday. Online banking, mobile applications and other digital payment services will also remain available in line with individual bank policies.
Earlier, the federal government had announced a nationwide public holiday on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. A notification issued by the federal government said that February 5, 2026, will be observed as a public holiday throughout the country.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year in Pakistan to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. On the day, special events, seminars, rallies and prayer gatherings are held across the country to reaffirm support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
