The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT) at the University of the Punjab successfully hosted the final round of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Pakistan Region on February 1, 2026.
The ICPC Pakistan Regional Final was held simultaneously at three major centers - Lahore, Karachi, and Giki - bringing together 90 teams from leading universities across the country.
Participating institutions included FAST, NUST, GIKI, NED University, all campuses of Virtual University, University of Education, and several other prominent universities.
In Lahore, the competition took place at FCIT, University of the Punjab’s Old Campus. Participants completed registration, mock rounds, and related activities on January 31, followed by the final contest on February 1.
The final round began at 9:30am and continued until 2:00pm, after which a closing ceremony was held.
FCIT Punjab University’s team solved five problems within the allotted time and secured a silver medal. Faculty members, organizers, students, and distinguished guests attended the closing ceremony and praised the successful organization of the globally recognized competition.
According to the administration, the ICPC Pakistan Regional Final plays a vital role in promoting young talent in computer science and programming while fostering globally competitive skills.
