Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan directed for the timely completion of N-55 highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A high-level meeting on major National Highway Authority (NHA) projects was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
During which detailed briefings were given on ongoing and completed development projects.
During the meeting, it was reported that NHA projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been completed and will soon be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The briefing highlighted that the highways including Kohat-Jhand, Pindi Gheb, and Old Bannu roads have been completed.
Officials also informed the minister that the Kohat section of Indus Highway N-55 and the Peshawar Northern Bypass are expected to be completed by June 2026. Similarly, the Chitral-Shandur and Shandur-Gilgit sections of Highway N-140 are expected to be completed by December 2026.
The briefing further mentioned that payments for highway construction and maintenance will be made only after site visits by the NHA Chairman.
Federal Minister instructed NHA officials to take strict action against unnecessary payments and ordered an acceleration of work on the Kohat section (N-55) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also decided to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa soon to personally inspect ongoing projects.
He emphasized that delays in project completion lead to increased costs and stressed that there will be no compromise on quality. The NHA Chairman was instructed to immediately provide a list of projects requiring cash flow support.
The minister directed the NHA to promptly 'take up' pending issues with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and instructed that all development projects obtain regular approval from the NHA Board.
