In a move aimed at strengthening judicial security, the Punjab Police have proposed the purchase of new bulletproof vehicles for Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judges and forwarded a formal summary to the chief minister for approval.
According to sources, the Punjab Police have submitted a detailed summary to the chief minister outlining the need for enhanced security arrangements for ATC judges. The proposal highlights growing security concerns and the need to upgrade existing transport facilities.
The Security Division Lahore has expressed an urgent requirement for 11 new vehicles dedicated to the protection of ATC judges. Officials say the move is part of broader efforts to ensure safe mobility for judges handling sensitive terrorism-related cases.
Cost expected to exceed Rs230m
As per the summary, the total cost of purchasing and bulletproofing the vehicles is estimated to exceed Rs230 million. The expenditure includes both the acquisition of new vehicles and the installation of high-grade bulletproofing.
Decision awaited from govt
The proposal is now under consideration, and a final decision is expected after review by the chief minister and relevant departments. If approved, the plan will significantly bolster security arrangements for the judiciary in Lahore.
