The Pakistan Armed Forces carried out a successful rescue operation in the open sea, around 1,500 kilometres from Gwadar.
The operation followed a request from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Sri Lanka. Upon receiving the information, the Pakistan Navy responded without delay and dispatched its ships PNS Moawin and PNS Tabuk for the rescue mission. The naval vessels safely rescued an ailing Sri Lankan crew member from the Indonesia-flagged commercial ship MV Grey Palm.
The rescued crew member was transferred to PNS Tabuk, where immediate medical assistance was provided. By activating coordinated maritime protocols, the Pakistan Navy completed the operation through timely action and professional handling.
Sri Lankan authorities and the family of the affected crew member expressed gratitude to Pakistan for the prompt assistance and cooperation. The Pakistan Navy reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling international obligations for the protection of human life at sea, without distinction of nationality.
