It is, of course, the season of cold, and January is at its peak and everyone is busy keeping themselves safe from the chill and taking care to wear warmer clothes.
The provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore, is also under the spell of winter. People are consuming nutritional foods, soups, and dry fruits in large quantities to protect themselves from the cold, as the city experiences severe winters.
Extreme temperature records maintained by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) show that Lahore recorded its coldest morning 91 years ago, on January 17, 1935, when the mercury dropped to -2.2°C.
Additionally, the temperature fell to -1.1°C on December 28, 1950 and reached the freezing point (0°C) on February 2, 1934.
