Police successfully repelled a late-night attack on a checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan after unidentified armed terrorists opened fire, killing two attackers in a fierce exchange while one policeman sustained minor injuries.
According to police, unidentified armed terrorists targeted the Khati police check post in Dera Ismail Khan late last night.
The attackers opened sudden fire on the checkpost, prompting an immediate and forceful response from police personnel stationed there.
Police retaliated vigorously, leading to an intense exchange of fire from both sides. As a result of the timely and courageous response, the attack was successfully foiled and two terrorists were killed during the retaliatory action.
Policeman injured
During the exchange of fire, one policeman was slightly injured. Police officials confirmed that the injured officer was provided immediate medical assistance and is reported to be out of danger.
District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada personally reached the site after receiving information about the incident and reviewed the situation on the ground. He was accompanied by Saddar SP, City DSP, Suburb DSP, and other senior officers, along with police personnel present at the scene.
Security further tightened
DPO Sahibzada praised the bravery and courage of the police personnel, stating that they fought the terrorists fearlessly and prevented a major security breach.
He added that the morale of the police force remains high and that security measures in the area have been further strengthened to prevent any future incidents.
