Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu visited Iraq for official talks with the Iraqi Air Force, where Baghdad expressed interest in acquiring Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.
Upon arrival at the Iraqi Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu received a grand ceremonial welcome. A well-dressed contingent presented a guard of honour, reflecting the importance of the visit for both nations.
During the meeting with Iraqi Air Force Commander Lt Gen Staff Pilot Mohanad Ghalib Mohammed Radi Al-Asadi, both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening military ties.
Air Chief Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s air capabilities. Both commanders agreed to explore joint exercises, pilot training programs, and closer cooperation in the aviation industry.
Iraq nterested in JF-17
The Iraqi Air Force Commander specifically expressed interest in the JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and the Super Mushshak training aircraft, signalling potential future procurement and collaboration with Pakistan’s defense industry.
Pakistan’s PAF is expected to provide technical assistance and training for Iraqi pilots as part of ongoing military cooperation discussions.
