The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Friday that the weekly inflation in the country fell by 0.09 per cent.
According to details, the PBS has released the weekly inflation figures. On an annual basis, the inflation rate was recorded at 2.83 per cent, the PBS said. During the past week, prices of 13 items rose, while 11 items became cheaper out of a total of 51 essential goods, the report stated. Prices of 27 essential items remained unchanged during the period.
The PBS added that the potato prices fell by 10.37 per cent, tomatoes by 9.64 per cent, and onions by 7.43 per cent. Sugar became cheaper by 4.22 per cent, while gram lentils fell by up to 1.76 per cent.
The report said chilli powder became costlier by 6.26 per cent, while live broiler chicken prices rose by up to 5.29 per cent. Banana prices increased by 2.46 per cent, and electricity tariffs rose by up to 1.67 per cent.
On a yearly basis, gas prices increased by 29.85 per cent, while wheat flour became costlier by up to 22.56 per cent, the report added.
The PBS has said that compared to last year, tomato prices fell by 74.92 per cent and potato prices by 49.79 per cent.
