According to family sources, the wedding ceremonies have been finalized for January 16, 17, and 18. The events will be spread across Lahore and Jati Umrah, the Sharif family residence.
The mehndi ceremony and the walima will both take place at Jati Umrah, keeping the celebrations within close family settings.
Bride’s identity, family
Junaid Safdar’s future wife is Shanzay, the granddaughter of PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar. The marriage, according to Rohail Asghar, was formally fixed two months ago.
Sharing his reaction, Sheikh Rohail Asghar said that when his son informed him of the proposal, he immediately termed it a moment of happiness for the family.
The senior politician revealed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif formally invited their family to his home for dinner. He praised the hospitality of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, adding that his wife was deeply impressed by their warmth.
He further shared that his wife, daughter-in-law, and Maryam Nawaz sat together to discuss and arrange the wedding preparations in detail.
Close family ties behind match
The families already shared a close bond before the engagement. Sheikh Rohail Asghar noted that Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Mahnoor and his granddaughter Shanzay are close friends, which further strengthened the relationship.
Maryam Nawaz had also visited Rohail Asghar along with her elder daughter and son-in-law, Raheel Munir, underscoring the closeness between the two families.
Keeping the celebrations simple and intimate, Sheikh Rohail confirmed that only close relatives are being invited to the wedding ceremonies. The families have chosen a private gathering over a large public event.
