The Customs Airport Cargo Control Unit has thwarted a major smuggling attempt after seizing a large quantity of illegal pills concealed in a parcel arriving from Germany.
According to a spokesperson, the operation was carried out at the Karachi International Mail Office. The parcel, booked from Germany, had been declared as containing clothes, socks, and music boxes.
However, during a detailed inspection of the suspicious package, officials recovered 9,455 illegal pills, valued at more than Rs290 million.
Customs authorities say that investigations are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the smuggling attempt, with further actions expected.
