The federal government has cleared the air on the notification regarding the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) appointment.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that unnecessary and irresponsible speculation is being made about the CDF notification, adding that the process for issuing the notification has already begun.
He stated that the prime minister will return to the country soon, and the notification will be issued at an appropriate time.
“There is no room for speculation; the matter is clear,” Asif added.
Separately, Asif said that the Israeli army continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. In a post on X, he warned that Muslim states that supported the agreement could reconsider their position.
He said that 352 Palestinians, including children, had been killed since the implementation of the ceasefire. He added that the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement sought stability in the region, yet Israeli actions raised doubts about Israel’s commitment to the accord. He called on the international community, particularly Western states, to increase pressure on Israel to comply with international law. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had already expressed his reservations.
