Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Tuesday that Pakistan did not carry out an attack on Afghanistan and always makes a formal announcement when it conducts any operation.
Addressing a news conference, he said Pakistan’s policy centred against terrorism and not against the Afghan people. He urged journalists to avoid speculation about the court martial of former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, which he termed a legal and judicial process. He added that details would be shared once implementation led to any decision.
He further said support for terrorism from across the border remained the central issue and called for the dismantling of the nexus of smuggling and political crime along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The ISPR chief said social media accounts from abroad created narratives against the state. He emphasised that Pakistan’s concerns related to the Afghan interim government, not the Afghan people.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan must put its house in order to conduct an effective and coordinated war against terrorism, adding that talks would not take place until verifiable action against terrorists was taken. He also said the people and the armed forces of Pakistan remained united against terrorists and would pursue them until the last moment. He called on the Afghan regime to take verifiable action against terrorist hideouts.
The ISPR chief said Pakistan did not distinguish between the so-called good and bad Taliban and drew no line between terrorists. He said Pakistan repeatedly engaged the Afghan government between 2021 and 2025, adding that militants used American weapons left behind in Afghanistan.
He further said 206 terrorists were killed since Nov 6, adding that all suicide attackers were Afghan nationals. He also said that security forces conducted 4,910 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
