The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the decision to remove the clause restricting political discussions from the Punjab Prison Rules.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, a larger bench, headed by Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, issued the order while hearing the Punjab government’s intra-court appeal. The three-member bench announced the reserved decision.
As a result, the Punjab government’s ban on political discussions in Adiala Jail has been restored.
Earlier, a single bench led by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq had ruled to remove the clause prohibiting political discussions from the Punjab Prison Rules.
With the suspension of that ruling, the restriction on political discussions within Adiala jail remains in effect under the Punjab government’s decision.
