A dramatic turn has unfolded in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case as the inside story of the arrest of prime accused Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, alias Teefi Butt, came to light.
According to police sources, he was recognised and arrested in Dubai by a senior Pakistani officer on the spot.
Arrest operation in Dubai
Police sources revealed that DSP Khalid Waria of the Extradition Cell was in Dubai to arrest two declared suspects when a raid was conducted. The operation, carried out in coordination with Dubai Police, took place inside a flat where Teefi Butt was unexpectedly present at a party.

The DSP immediately identified him and initiated the arrest process. Currently, Teefi Butt remains in Dubai Police custody.
Red warrant and extradition to Pakistan
According to Lahore police, red warrants had already been issued against Teefi Butt. Following his arrest, the extradition process has formally begun. Once the paperwork is complete, he will be handed over to Lahore Police and flown to Pakistan via Lahore Airport.

Sources added that Teefi Butt had initially fled to Glasgow soon after the murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu. More recently, he travelled to Dubai to renew his London visa after it had expired, which ultimately led to his capture.
CCD requests control of investigation
Meanwhile, the Crime Control Department (CCD) has formally requested Lahore’s capital city police officer (CCPO) to transfer the investigation of the Ameer Balaj murder case to them. The case was originally registered at Chuhng Police Station. Officials said the decision on transferring the investigation will be finalized once Teefi Butt is brought back to Pakistan.
Background of case
The murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu, a prominent figure, shocked Lahore 18 months ago. Both Teefi Butt and Aqeel Butt alias Gogi Butt were named as accused in the case. While Gogi Butt is currently out on bail, Teefi Butt had been declared an absconder before his dramatic arrest in Dubai.
