The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting scattered rains in Islamabad and several regions of the country over the next 2-3 days.
A westerly wave has been identified as the cause of this weather phenomenon, primarily affecting the western and northern areas of Pakistan.
On Monday night, cloudy weather is expected to prevail in most western and upper regions of Pakistan. However, the north Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas may experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms.
Tuesday's weather outlook
Tuesday is anticipated to bring cloudy conditions to most upper regions of the country, with rain, wind, and thunderstorm activity continuing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan.
Additionally, rain is expected in Islamabad, the Potohar region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the evening and night hours.
Fog/smog alert
The PMD has also issued a fog/smog alert for a few plain areas of Punjab, particularly during the morning hours.
Temperature Projections
In Islamabad, minimum temperatures are predicted to range between 10-12 degrees Celsius on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Recent weather events
In the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, with cold conditions observed in northern areas. Rainfall occurred in various regions, including Quetta (Sheikh Manda 14 mm, Samungli 03 mm), Kalat 05 mm, and Khuzdar 01 mm. Leh retained its status as the coldest place in the country, with temperatures plummeting 05 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius, with an evening relative humidity of 68 percent.
