In welcome news for electricity consumers across Pakistan, power tariffs are expected to decrease by Rs1.75 per unit for a period of three months, pending approval from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
According to official sources, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted an application for a tariff reduction under the fourth quarterly adjustment of 2024-25.
NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on the application for August 4, after which a final decision will be made. If approved, the tariff reduction will result in relief worth over Rs53.49 billion for consumers nationwide, including those served by K-Electric (KE).
The proposed reduction is part of the government’s efforts to offset rising living costs and stabilize energy prices.
