The official anthem for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 titled "Dil Jashn Bole" was released today but Pakistan cricket fans are furious as they believe that their country has been ditched [once again].
It is not something novel. The trailer for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 was also met with such reactions - especially from Pakistan.
Pakistan - who ranked second in the ICC's ODI rankings at that time [and first now ahead of the mega event] - was barely featured in the video.
ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to commence in India from October 5.
The anthem is a collaboration between renowned actor Ranveer Singh and Bollywood composer Pritam.
Ranveer Singh expressed his gratitude for being a part of this prestigious project. He said, "Being part of this anthem launch for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is truly an honour. It's a celebration of the sport we all love."
The composer Pritam resonated with Singh's sentiments and emphasized the importance of sharing India's passion for cricket with the world through music.
He said, "Cricket is India's greatest passion, and composing 'Dil Jashn Bole' for the biggest World Cup ever has been a tremendous honour for me. This song is not just for 1.4 billion Indian fans but for the whole world to come to India and be a part of the biggest celebration ever."
However, it seemed that Pakistan cricket fans were not impressed, neither with the beat of the music nor with their under-representation.
They pointed out 'discrepancies' in the World Cup anthem which include a tiny-sized Pakistan flag, absence of top ODI batter Babar Azam and over-representation of India.
The fans opined that India would have hired musicians from Pakistan to do the job better.
Here is the fans' reaction:
However, some believe that Babar Azam cannot be kept out, and he is present there in one form or the other.
We leave it to fans to decide if there was enough green in the anthem. So, watch it here:
