A tragic accident in Kot Addu tehsil of Muzaffargarh has claimed the lives of at least 12 people after a loader rickshaw carrying wedding guests fell into the Muzaffargarh Canal.
The rickshaw, packed with members of the same family, reportedly lost control and plunged into the canal at around 9am on Tuesday.
According to Rescue officials, 11 people were rescued alive from the canal and shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Rescue teams have so far recovered the bodies of 12 people from the canal, including three children.
The latest recoveries have taken the death toll from the tragic accident to 12.
Search continues for missing children
A rescue operation remains underway to locate three children who are still missing following the accident.
According to Rescue officials, the missing children are between three and 10 years old, prompting rescuers to continue their search in the canal.
Teams are using available resources to search the waterway and surrounding areas as efforts continue to locate the missing victims.
The incident occurred near Sananwan when the loader rickshaw carrying wedding guests lost control before plunging into the Muzaffargarh Canal.

More than two dozen people from the same family were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Rescue officials said the search for the missing people is continuing as authorities work to recover all victims and establish the full circumstances of the tragedy.
