British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Tuesday.
The discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional issues, and future cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening Pak-UK relations. Key issues of mutual interest and the regional situation were discussed in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting a shared commitment to closer cooperation.
Jane Marriott highlighted the significance of collaboration and expressed appreciation for Nawaz Sharif’s services to Pakistan, calling him a “valuable leader” in the country’s political landscape.
Praise for Punjab development initiatives
The High Commissioner also lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ongoing development projects in Punjab. She described the reform initiatives across various sectors in the province as commendable and an example of effective governance.
Expressing delight over the organization of the Basant festival in Lahore, Jane Marriott noted that such cultural activities highlight the city’s positive identity and foster people-to-people connections.
The festival also provided an opportunity to showcase the vibrancy and cultural heritage of Lahore to visiting diplomats.
