An important order has been issued to ensure the safety of flight operations during Basant in Lahore.
Kite flying has been banned in areas surrounding the Allama Iqbal International Airport, while a formal notification has also been issued prohibiting kite flying in aircraft take-off and landing zones. The restriction has been imposed in light of aviation safety recommendations issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority.
Areas included in the landing zone are Nadarabad, Gulshan Ali Colony and Ali View, Nishat Colony, Bhatta Chowk, and DHA Blocks P, Q, R and S.
Aircraft take-off routes include Al-Faisal Town, Joray Pul, Canal Bank Road adjacent to Tajpura, and surrounding areas of Tajpura. Kite flying has been banned in all aircraft take-off and landing areas during Basant.
The notification was issued after government's approval under the Punjab Kite Flying Act.
