Pakistan International Airlines has signed a major cargo-sharing agreement with the global aviation group Air France-KLM, a move officials say will significantly strengthen Pakistan’s export industry and improve access to international markets.
The national carrier Pakistan International Airlines has entered into a cargo-sharing agreement with Air France-KLM, which became effective on January 15. The partnership marks an important step in expanding PIA’s cargo footprint beyond its existing routes.
Under the agreement, PIA Cargo gains direct access to Air France-KLM’s extensive global cargo network.
Expanded global reach
According to PIA, the agreement is expected to significantly improve exports of Pakistani products by providing wider and faster access to global markets. Exporters will be able to tap into the combined PIA and Air France-KLM networks using a single airway bill, simplifying logistics and making deliveries more efficient.
Officials say the streamlined process will reduce delays and improve reliability for exporters.
PIA Cargo will be linked to the Air France-KLM network through Dubai, Riyadh or Dammam, enabling smooth onward connections. From these hubs, cargo will be transported to major European destinations.
The European network includes key cities such as Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and Düsseldorf.
Major US cities included
The cargo-sharing arrangement also covers important American markets. According to a PIA spokesperson, the network includes major US cities such as New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.
This expanded reach is expected to open new opportunities for Pakistani exporters in North America.
A PIA spokesperson described the agreement as a major development in the national airline’s cargo capabilities. The spokesperson said the partnership with Air France-KLM will play a key role in boosting Pakistan’s export industry by improving connectivity, efficiency and market access.
Officials added that the deal reflects PIA’s broader strategy to strengthen its cargo operations and support national trade growth.
