The cold and icy tone of winter is finally fading as spring prepares to take over across Punjab. Just in time for Basant, the Met Department has announced pleasant weather and ideal winds for kite flyers in Lahore.
According to weather officials, the harsh chill that dominated recent weeks has started to ease. The cold and icy winds are gradually being replaced by softer, more comfortable air.
This seasonal transition signals the arrival of spring across much of the region.
According to the department, the weather in Lahore will remain dry and clear on February 6 and 7. On February 8, light clouds are expected to appear in the sky over Lahore. Winds are likely to blow at a speed of five to 10 kilometers per hour, the department said.
Spring breeze set to take over
Meteorologists say the pleasant breeze of spring is now preparing to fully take over. Warmer daytime conditions and comfortable winds are expected to continue in the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has confirmed that the weather in Lahore on the occasion of Basant will be especially pleasant. Officials said the “best wind” is expected to blow, creating ideal conditions for traditional Basant festivities.
Meteorology Director General Meher Sahibzad Khan stated that Lahore will experience favorable winds, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Rain likely in Rawalpindi, Islamabad
While Lahore enjoys clear and pleasant conditions, there is a possibility of rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad next Friday. The forecast was shared by the DG Met, who advised residents to stay updated on changing conditions.
The expected rainfall could bring further relief as temperatures continue to rise. In Islamabad, weather conditions are expected to remain favorable for kite flying, according to the Meteorological Department.
The change is being welcomed by residents after a prolonged spell of cold weather.
