Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said on Saturday that a grand political alliance held a jirga earlier today, during which allegations of corruption were levelled against the provincial government.
He questioned the whereabouts of the Rs4 billion allocated for displaced persons and said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not even consult the people of Tirah. He added that the provincial government would use the people of Tirah for political purposes.
Providing further details, the federal information minister stated that the provincial government attempted to mislead the nation and must issue an apology. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should apologise over the jirga’s demands, adding that the jirga raised legitimate questions.
He said that when migration takes place during winter, facilities are provided, and without the intervention of the army, the affected people would have no support.
Tarar stated that the provincial government had abandoned its responsibilities, while the federal government directed that every possible assistance be extended to displaced persons. He added that people are now looking towards the federal government and the armed forces, assuring that they would not be left alone. He further stated that intelligence-based operations are reduced during the winter season.
