Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has continued to take active steps to further beautify the province.
According to details that emerged on Sunday, a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviewed the projects under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP). The largest development initiative in the province’s history has been launched, with work begun on the provision of sewerage, roads, and other basic facilities in 51 cities across Punjab.
During the meeting, orders were issued for the early completion of sewerage and other essential projects in every city. Officials informed the meeting that a total of 5,887 kilometres of sewerage lines and 181 drainage lines will be constructed in 51 cities of Punjab.
Under the “Sohna Punjab” projects, 100 kilometres of roads and streets will be paved. In addition, more than 33,000 new manhole covers will be provided across the province. The production of high-density polyethylene pipes for sewerage is progressing at a fast pace.
The chief minister directed the establishment of provincial and district-level control rooms to ensure transparent and timely completion of all projects. Progress reports were also sought from deputy commissioners.
Maryam Nawaz said that the plan to further beautify Punjab should be completed by June, adding that the provision of basic facilities to every citizen remains the government’s top priority.
