A passenger at Karachi Airport had his passport torn by the staff of a private airline, sparking outrage and disruption.
Investigations conducted by the Pakistan Airports Authority have confirmed that the incident was entirely the fault of the airline’s staff.
According to the report, the incident occurred when the passenger, Qudratullah, was preparing to board a flight to Jeddah. While checking his passport at the counter, a female airline employee accidentally tore it while attempting to remove a sticker. Sources indicate that the passenger reached the counter around 1:25pm, which resulted in him being unable to travel as planned.
Following the incident, the passenger left the International Departure Terminal visibly upset, shouting and creating a scene. Reports suggest that no airline staff, including from AirBlue, came forward to address the complaint or assist the passenger at the moment.
The Pakistan Airports Authority’s investigation clearly attributed the mishap to the airline’s staff, confirming that it was not due to any error on the part of the passenger. The case has raised concerns about airline staff training and the handling of passengers at busy airport counters.
