Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Thursday that Faiz Hameed was sentenced for his involvement in politics.
He said the PTI founder could also be tried in a military court mentioning if Faiz Hameed is found involved in political activities, then those associated with him would also face trial.
He said that the institution had never instructed Faiz Hameed to take action against Top City.
Speaking on Samaa TV’s programme Nadeem Malik Live, Senator Rana Sanaullah said that the ISI is a disciplined and organised institution.
“Some tasks are institutional needs, while others stem from personal agendas,” he stated. He added that if an officer acts under institutional authority, the institution protects them, but those who pursue personal agendas are held accountable.
He said that Faiz Hameed held one of the most senior positions - just below the Army Chief. “Whatever Faiz Hameed did, he did it openly and by naming people,” Sanaullah said, alleging that Faiz Hameed was also behind the heroin case filed against him.
He claimed Hameed pursued his personal agenda alongside official duties and maintained political connections for his own career advancement. “Anyone in his place would face the same consequences,” he said.
Sanaullah further stated that Faiz Hameed engaged in political management and would not be in this situation today had he not acted on personal motives.
He said that when the appointment of the Army Chief was approaching, PTI launched a long march. “It is possible that the PTI long march was also orchestrated by Faiz Hameed,” he said, adding that efforts to prevent Aasim Munir from becoming Army Chief seemed to revolve around Hameed.
