Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said on Thursday that the levy on petroleum products had been imposed for road construction in Balochistan and that about Rs66 billion had been raised under this head so far.
Expressing his thoughts in Senate, he said that Rs7 to Rs8 per litre had been charged on petroleum products for the purpose of road construction and that the collected amount had been handed to the Planning Commission.
The minister said the amount collected until September stood at about Rs66 billion, while the total cost of the project would reach about Rs200 billion. He added that the levy still formed part of the petroleum prices and that the collection continued.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the figures until September had been presented and that further data would also be provided.
