Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has approved changes in gas tariffs and forwarded its decision to the federal government for final approval.
According to OGRA, a notification will be issued once the federal government grants its final consent.
For Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), OGRA has recommended a decrease of Rs. 103.95 per MMBTU in gas prices. Meanwhile, it has suggested an increase of Rs. 116.90 per MMBTU for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
OGRA stated that the increase in SNGPL’s gas prices is due to a rise in RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) imports.
Furthermore, OGRA has instructed that SNGPL’s gas management issue be presented to the government. It has also recommended that the federal government set gas prices based on various consumer categories.
OGRA mentioned that the pricing recommendations have been formulated in consideration of the companies’ financial shortfalls for the fiscal year.
