In a dramatic turn of events along the Line of Control (LoC), the Indian Army reportedly hoisted a white flag at the Chora Complex, signalling surrender after suffering significant losses at the hands of the Pakistan Army.
The move came in the aftermath of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully destroying five Indian aircraft -- not just three as admitted by the Indian authorities. The action was taken in response to what Pakistan has labelled as an unprovoked and cowardly Indian attack on civilian and military targets across the border.
Heavy damage inflicted
According to high-level security sources, Pakistani forces launched a powerful retaliatory campaign that resulted in heavy damage to multiple Indian military posts along the LoC. Among the worst-hit was the Chora Complex where Indian forces eventually raised the white flag -- an internationally recognised symbol of ceasefire or surrender.
Five Indian fighter jets destroyed
While India has officially confirmed the loss of three of its fighter jets, Pakistan Air Force officials state that five aircraft were actually brought down during air combat engagements over the past 48 hours.
“Our forces are delivering a befitting reply to every Indian provocation,” said a security official.
Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told a foreign news agency that Pakistan shot down six Indian Air Force fighter jets and destroyed the headquarters of the Indian Army's 12th Infantry Brigade, which operates under the 9th Division of the 15th Corps.
The Pakistani military claims the enemy aircraft, including three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-30, were intercepted and destroyed as they attempted to strike Pakistani territory using stand-off munitions from Indian airspace. Additionally, a Heron surveillance drone was also downed in the operation.
Khawaja Asif confirmed the shoot-downs following retaliatory operations along the Line of Control (LoC).
“Pakistan has acted in self-defence. Our armed forces are responding decisively to Indian aggression. They will still repay the debt,” said Khawaja Asif, sending a strong message to New Delhi.
Indian brigade HQ destroyed
Sources further confirmed that Pakistan has destroyed the headquarters of India’s 12th Infantry Brigade, a key tactical formation of the Indian Army involved in forward operations near the LoC.
“Our forces are giving a befitting reply to the enemy’s naked aggression. Several enemy posts have also been neutralized along the LoC,” said ISPR DG Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry in remarks to Reuters.
Moreover, the Pakistan Army also shot down an Indian drone that violated Pakistani airspace in the Barnala sector. The drone, believed to be on a reconnaissance mission, was intercepted and destroyed by Pakistani forces in what is being seen as a clear warning against further provocation.
Late on Tuesday night, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations confirmed that the Indian military launched missiles that struck three separate locations inside Pakistan. In response, security sources said, Pakistan retaliated and launched missiles against multiple targets in India.
Pakistan confirmed shooting down at least five Indian fighter jets, including Rafales. They also claim all of Pakistan's jets are safe.
In Bahawalpur, a missile attack reportedly targeted a religious seminary, killing a child and injuring a man and a woman. So far, 29 injured individuals from the missile attacks were shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital. The MS claimed the injured include six women and four children.
The ISPR DG issued a stern warning to India following a reported missile attack on Pakistani territory, stating that "India's temporary happiness will be turned into permanent sorrow."
