The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, saw thorough discussions on various proposals. The Power Division's proposal to nominate independent directors for power distribution companies received approval and will now be submitted to the Cabinet.
This move aims to enhance the governance and efficiency of electricity distribution companies by bringing in experienced and independent professionals.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Railways' proposal to declare four of its companies as strategic and essential was turned down. The committee has instead directed the Ministry to submit a comprehensive transformation plan for these companies. This plan is expected to outline steps to improve their operations and financial health.
The committee also recognized the strategic importance of Pakistan Television (PTV) and the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been instructed to present a viable business plan for these entities.
Additionally, a committee will be established for the effective management of these institutions, aiming to ensure their sustainability and growth in the media landscape.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Science and Technology has been directed to submit a business plan for reforms. This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to modernize and enhance the performance of state-owned enterprises across various sectors.
