The Sindh High Court has taken decisive action in the case regarding the closure of social media app "X", issuing a written order on a contempt petition.

The court's order highlights the serious concerns surrounding the closure of the app and the failure of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to provide a reasonable justification.

During the proceedings, the court issued notices to the chairman of the PTA on the contempt of court petition. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a compelling explanation from the PTA regarding the closure of the app, emphasizing that the chairman's actions are exposing him to contempt of court proceedings.

The Sindh High Court also extended the ongoing stay order regarding the resumption of the services of "X", signalling its commitment to upholding justice and due process. Additionally, the court ordered to send a copy of the court directives to the federal government and the PTA, among others, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are held accountable for their actions.

The federal government and the PTA have sought time to submit their replies. Until the next hearing, the court has sought replies from the Interior Ministry and the telecom authority.

Despite the court's orders, the service of the app "X" has not been restored, raising concerns about compliance with judicial directives. Counsel Abdul Moiz Jafri reiterated the importance of adhering to the court's rulings and restoring the app's services promptly.

Furthermore, the court has sought a reply from the Ministry of Interior and the PTA before the next hearing, indicating its determination to address the issue comprehensively. The federation and the PTA have been given time to submit their responses, underscoring the importance of transparency and accountability in resolving the matter.
