Mir Raza's family lawyer seeks change of entire investigation team

Mir Raza’s family lawyer, Jibran Nasir, has alleged that police are not properly investigating the case and are harassing the family, while calling for the entire investigation team to be replaced.

Speaking to the media, Nasir said medical evidence had confirmed that Mir Raza was shot in the back and that the bullet entered through his waist and came out through his chest. He said the bullet caused blood to fill Mir Raza’s lungs and affected his fifth rib.

Nasir said Mir Raza also had an injury to his chin, a mark on his forehead and injuries to his toe. He said signs of violence were found on different parts of the face and that black material was found on the body, including up to the throat. Seventeen samples have been sent to a laboratory for forensic examination, he said.

The lawyer alleged that Mir Raza had been brutally murdered and said the family had no confidence in the investigation team of the AIG and SSP. He said the family would seek relief from the court if the team was not replaced.

Nasir also questioned the changes made to the medical board and asked whether the special medical board had visited the graveyard. He said replacing only part of the investigation would not be enough and called for a new team comprising police officers with a good reputation.

He said the family still suspected the guest house could be involved in the case, but questioned who owned it. Nasir said the place where Mir Raza’s body was found had yielded three bodies within a relatively short period. He added that Mir Raza’s parents had received the post-mortem report.

Nasir alleged that police officers had been putting pressure on the family to accept that Mir Raza had died by suicide. He said the family had been kept at an office for hours and told to accept the suicide theory.

He criticised reports about Mir Raza’s marital affairs, calling them shameful, and demanded an explanation from the Sindh inspector general of police. Nasir alleged that the family’s financial affairs were being discussed and that attempts were being made to put the family under pressure.

Nasir said the medical board had taken 14 questions to investigate the case and returned with answers. He said different samples had also been collected and sent for examination, while signs of violence had been found on the body.

Nasir maintained that this was the killing of an innocent young man and repeated his demand for the entire investigation team to be replaced.
