Heavy rain lashed Islamabad after a spell of intense heat and humidity, bringing relief to residents as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more rain in Islamabad and other upper parts of the country.
The weather changed suddenly after strong sunshine and high humidity in the federal capital since morning. Dark clouds gathered over the city before heavy rain began.
Blue Area, G-6, F-6, F-8 and Zero Point were among the areas that received heavy rain. The downpour reduced the intensity of the heat and made the weather pleasant.
According to the PMD, monsoon winds are present over the upper and southern parts of the country. More rain is expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north-eastern and southern Punjab.
Some parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may also receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms. The weather in other parts of the country is expected to remain hot and humid.
In Rawalpindi, light rain was recorded in several areas, with a fall in temperature. The Meteorological Department forecast intermittent rain in the city for the next one to two hours.
In Sialkot, rain in the city and surrounding areas brought relief from the heat. Several minutes of rain left Urdu Bazaar, Railway Road and Fateh Garh Road under water.
