Prime Minister's Adviser on Privatisation Muhammad Ali said on Friday that 12 different investors and consortiums have shown keen interest in the privatisation of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco).
The deadline for submitting expressions of interest for Fesco’s privatisation ended today, with investors from Türkiye, China and Pakistan taking part in the process.
Muhammad Ali said three investors from Türkiye, one from China and several groups from Pakistan had expressed interest. Some investors applied individually, while others submitted their interest through consortiums.
He said several rounds of meetings with the investors had been held since January 2026. The Privatisation Commission would continue engagement with investors for the Fesco’s privatisation.
The adviser said the privatisation of distribution companies (Discos) was progressing successfully. He said the purpose of the process was to reduce power tariffs and create a competitive environment in the electricity sector.
He added that the power infrastructure would be modernised to provide cheaper electricity to the public.
Muhammad Ali said the deadline for submitting expressions of interest for Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) privatisation was due after two weeks, while the final date for Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) had been set for September 7.
He said work had also started on the privatisation of Sukkur Electric Power Company and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
The adviser expressed hope that the Discos' privatisation process would move forward smoothly and said the government was confident about the successful completion of all privatisation transactions.
