Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry asked on Friday Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to accept the public decision, saying voters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) supported the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) after assessing its performance.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry said allegations of rigging should be supported with evidence instead of statements. He said if the PPP had any proof of electoral irregularities, it should present it before the public.
Talal Chaudhry also criticised the situation within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying political figures had no importance in the party. He claimed that some people were waiting for internal changes within the party for their own political interests.
He said that if political leaders had been leading PTI, the party would not have faced its current difficulties.
It is pertinent to note that his remarks came after Bhutto-Zardari alleged that holding elections in phases in AJK was aimed at facilitating rigging. The PPP chairman demanded transparent elections and the formation of a truth commission.
