Pakistan has congratulated the people of Bangladesh and the newly elected leadership following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s sweeping victory in the general elections.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended their best wishes to BNP leader Tariq Rahman, reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening historic and brotherly bilateral ties.
President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for securing a landslide victory and earning the mandate to form the next government.
In his message, the president described the elections in Bangladesh as an opportunity for South Asia to move forward from past phases. He said the massive public mandate reflects the democratic aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.
President Zardari also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s sovereignty, independence, and democratic journey.
He expressed hope for working closely with the new government to enhance cooperation in trade, defense, cultural exchanges, and regional forums.

President Zardari also referred to regional cooperation, stating that India had held platforms such as SAARC hostage and was paralyzing the important forum that was established in Bangladesh in 1985.
He emphasized the need to revive meaningful regional collaboration for the progress of South Asia.
PM Shehbaz Sharif’s message on X
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Tariq Rahman on his victory in the Bangladesh parliamentary elections through a message shared on social media platform X.
The prime minister congratulated the people of Bangladesh for conducting peaceful and successful elections. He said Pakistan looks forward to working with the new leadership in Dhaka to develop historic, brotherly, and multifaceted bilateral relations.

PM Shehbaz stated that both countries would work toward the shared goals of peace, stability, and development in South Asia through mutual cooperation.
