The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of rain, snowfall, and extremely cold conditions in various parts of the country from January 31 to February 4, advising citizens to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
According to a spokesperson of the NDMA, the advisory has been issued in view of expected weather conditions across multiple regions of Pakistan.
The authority has specifically directed citizens to avoid non-essential travel to mountainous areas during periods of snowfall.
Forecast for northern Punjab
The advisory states that light rain and snowfall are expected in Murree, Galiyat, and the Pothohar region from January 31 to February 3. These areas often experience travel disruptions during winter weather spells.
Residents and tourists have been urged to remain vigilant and follow official instructions during this period.
Balochistan to see rain, snow
Light rain and snowfall are also likely in the northern and central mountainous areas of Balochistan over the next two days, with the forecast extending till February 1.
Authorities have cautioned that weather conditions in these areas could impact mobility and daily activities.
Upper KP under weather alert
The advisory further notes that the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience light rain and snowfall from January 31 to February 3.
People living in or traveling to these regions have been advised to remain updated on local weather conditions.
The weather in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir is expected to remain extremely cold and cloudy for the next four days, until around February 3.
NDMA warned that prolonged cold conditions could pose risks, particularly in high-altitude areas.
Fog, cold conditions likely in Sindh
Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast cold and dry weather in Sindh, with fog also likely in several areas. Motorists have been advised to take precautionary measures while traveling in fog-prone regions.
NDMA has urged the public to remain cautious, follow travel advisories, and stay informed through official weather updates. Citizens have been specifically directed not to travel unnecessarily during snowfall to reduce the risk of accidents and emergencies.
