Ajoka Theatre will stage its acclaimed cultural play ‘Lo Phir Basant Ayee’ tomorrow, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Alhamra Hall 2, Lahore, followed by performances on February 1 and 2 at Government College University (GCU), Lahore, celebrating the return of the vibrant festival of Basant.
Originally premiered in 2014, the play brings to life the colorful skies, kite-flying traditions, and rich cultural spirit of Lahore. Written by eminent playwright and Ajoka Theatre’s Executive Director Shahid Nadeem, the story follows a kite-maker who dreams of seeing Lahore’s skies filled with kites once more.
Through its combination of emotion, humor, and cultural reflection, the production celebrates Lahore’s heritage while highlighting resilience, joy, and community unity at the heart of this beloved festival.
Ajoka Theatre has revived the play this year to mark the long-awaited return of Basant, offering audiences a meaningful and engaging cultural experience that honors Lahore’s artistic traditions.
Shahid Nadeem commented that “Basant is not just about colors and kites; it is a celebration of peace, joy, and togetherness. With ‘Lo Phir Basant Ayee,’ we aim to revive this spirit in Lahore and invite everyone to enjoy the festival safely, embrace our culture, and come together in harmony.”
